Snapchat research says Snap Map reaches 450M monthly users and Promoted Places outperform utility map pins
Snap published research on October 15, 2026, conducted with eye square and Horizon, surveying more than 17,000 digital map users aged 13 to 44 in the US, Canada, UK, France, Germany and Saudi Arabia, with in-context testing. Snap states Snap Map reaches 450 million global monthly active users. 71% of users said they are open to visiting a location after seeing it as a sponsored pin. Compared with sponsored pins on utility maps, Snap reports its Promoted Places creatives were easier to notice (+9 points), more appealing (+5 points) and more interesting to click (+4 points), with brand impact still salient 14 to 25 days after exposure. All figures come from Snap-commissioned research.
Impact
Retail, restaurant and other location-based advertisers get Snap-supplied benchmarks for Promoted Places on Snap Map, which may help justify testing it for foot-traffic objectives. The data is commissioned by Snap and should be read as vendor research.
Recommendations
- Consider a Promoted Places test for clients with physical locations in the covered markets
- Measure store visits with your own footfall or lift study instead of relying only on vendor figures
- Plan for the 14 to 25 day delayed effect when choosing attribution windows
